METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR BEAM TRAINING USING BEAMFORMING CODEBOOK

The present disclosure relates to a 5G or pre-5G communication system for supporting higher data transmission rates than 4G communication systems such as LTE. A method according to various embodiments, a method for a base station to support beam search using a beamforming codebook, comprises: a step of storing a plurality of codebooks corresponding to a plurality of different beam widths; an operation of receiving a beam steering request from user equipment (UE); a step of determining, in response to the beam steering request, a codebook including beam codebooks for beam coverage having a beam width corresponding to a channel state of the UE among the plurality of codebooks; and a step of transmitting signals for beam search for the UE through a plurality of transmission beams by using digital beamforming matrices of the codebook. 본 개시는 LTE와 같은 4G 통신 시스템 이후 보다 높은 데이터 전송률을 지원하기 위한 5G 또는 pre-5G 통신 시스템에 관련된 것이다. 다양한 실시예에 따른 방법은, 빔포밍 코드북을 이용한 빔 탐색을 지원하는 기지국의 방법에 있어서, 복수의 서로 다른 빔폭들에 대응하는 복수의 코드북들을 저장하는 과정과, 사용자 기기(UE)로부터 빔 조정 요청을 수신하는 동작과, 상기 빔 조정 요청에 응답하여, 상기 복수의 코드북들 중, 상기 UE의 채널 상태에 대응하는 빔폭을 가지는 빔 커버리지들을 위한 빔 코드북들을 포함하는 코드북을 결정하는 과정과, 상기 코드북의 상기 디지털 빔포밍 매트릭스들을 이용하여 복수의 송신 빔들을 통해 상기 UE에 대한 빔 탐색을 위한 신호들을 송신하는 과정을 포함할 수 있다.
