description | Disclosed are a locking device and a method for operating the locking device. In one embodiment of the present invention, the locking device may include: a main hub assembly that can be coupled with a dead bolt; a clutch assembly coupled to the main hub assembly; and an actuator assembly coupled to the clutch assembly. The actuator assembly may include an actuator capable of operating a carriage to be biased along a first direction so that the clutch assembly and the main hub assembly can be closer to each other along a second direction. The second direction is perpendicular to the first direction. The locking device may further include a thumb-turn assembly coupled to the clutch assembly. The thumb-turn assembly includes a thumb-turn capable of setting a location on an outer surface of a door.
