Storage device and operating method thereof

An embodiment of the present invention provides a storage device capable of reducing map data upload time and an operating method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a storage device comprises: a nonvolatile memory containing map data; and a controller that reads upload target map data from among the map data, divides the map data into a plurality of map units, encodes a plurality of map units sequentially, and transmits them to a host. The controller encodes the map unit of the next order, while the map unit encoded in the previous step is transmitted to the host. 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 저장 장치는 맵 데이터를 포함하는 불휘발성 메모리; 및 상기 맵 데이터 중 업로드 대상 맵 데이터를 리드하여 복수의 맵 유닛으로 분할하고, 상기 복수의 맵 유닛을 순차적으로 인코딩하여 호스트로 전송하는 컨트롤러를 포함한다. 상기 컨트롤러는 이전 단계에서 인코딩된 맵 유닛이 상기 호스트로 전송되는 동안 다음 순서의 맵 유닛을 인코딩한다.
