description | The present invention relates to a muscle control device and an operation method thereof. The muscle control device, according to an embodiment of the present invention, comprises: an EMG electrode unit including a plurality of electrodes, and sensing an electromyography (EMG) signal; an EMG circuit unit generating channel data based on electrode signals received from the EMG electrode unit; a control unit receiving the channel data from the EMG circuit unit, extracting a voluntary muscle activation signal based on the channel data, and determining functional electrical stimulation (FES) variables based on the voluntary muscle activation signal; an FES electrode unit outputting a functional electrode stimulation based on the FES stimulation variables; and an FES circuit unit receiving the FES stimulation variables from the control unit, generating functional electrical stimulation based on the FES stimulation variables, and transmitting the functional electrical stimulation to the FES electrode unit. Based on the voluntary muscle activation signal, the control unit detects the direction and intensity of motion from the voluntary muscle activation signal and adjusts the strength of the functional electrical stimulation.
