Therefore, provided is a friction material for a brake pad made of a stable alternative alloy that can maintain frictional performance equal to or higher than that of a conventional copper alloy and reliable braking performance even in a harsh environment with a severe change. 본 발명은 차량용 브레이크 패드에 사용되는 마찰재에 관한 것으로서, 강화섬유로 이루어지는 보강재와, 수지 성분으로 이루어지는 결합재와, 황산바륨 또는 탄산칼슘으로 이루어지는 충전재와, 구리 합금을 포함하는 윤활첨가재로 이루어지는 통상의 브레이크 패드용 마찰재에 있어서, 상기 구리 합금 대신에 망간 합금이 윤활첨가재에 포함됨으로써, 종래에 사용되던 구리 합금과 동등하거나 또는 그 이상의 마찰성능 및 변화가 심한 가혹한 환경에서도 확실한 제동 성능이 일정하게 유지될 수 있는 안정적인 대체 합금으로 제작되는 브레이크 패드용 마찰재를 제공하고자 한다.
