APPARATUS FOR PLAYING VOD CONTENTS WITH PPL ADVERTISEMENT INFORMATION AND IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

A VOD playback apparatus having PPL information according to the present invention is installed in an image display apparatus. The VOD playback apparatus comprises: a data transmission and reception unit for receiving stream data from a VOD providing server; a pre-processing unit for analyzing the received stream data by each transmission packet unit, separating an advertisement queue point for each video playback time and PPL advertisement data, audio data, and video data, which include advertisement information corresponding to the queue point, and recording the same in an input buffer; a codec unit for decoding the data recorded in the input buffer by each frame; a playback unit for synchronizing the PPL advertisement data, the audio data, and the video data decoded in the codec unit, and playing the same; and a display control unit for displaying the played audio data and video data on a display apparatus, and displaying advertisement information, which corresponds to the advertisement queue point in the played PPL advertisement data, on the display apparatus when an advertisement queue point selection signal is inputted while the image is being played. The display control unit displays advertisement information corresponding to the advertisement queue point in a second area that is different from a first area displaying video data.
