METHOD FOR CONVERSION OF AN IMAGE FORMAT

An image format conversion method is provided to allocate the predetermined additional bits to the bit number of the first spacial image signal, thereby preventing the number loss of bits of an image during image format conversion wherein the bits are below a decimal point. A process for detecting the number of bits of the first spacial image signal is performed(S10). A process for securing a space is performed(S20). The bit number of the detected first spacial image signal and the predetermined additional bits are allocated at the space. A process for multiplying the predetermined value by the matrix coefficient value of the first spacial image signal is performed(S30). The CSC(Color Space Conversion) of an image signal is performed by the matrix coefficient value. The converted matrix coefficient value of the second spacial image signal is divided by the predetermined value and restored. The space with the allocated bits is released(S60). The additional bits are 10 bits.
