APPARATUS FOR TRANSFERRING GLASS MELT ON TO A FLOAT BATH

A device for transferring glass melt from a preparation zone to a float bath (4) has a feed pipe (1) at a level above the level of the float bath (4) and a transition ramp (2) from the level of the feed pipe (1) to the level of the float bath (4). In order to design a device of this type in such a way that it can also produce a borosilicate glass which melts at distinctly higher temperatures, such as those used for LCD flat screens, with thermal and chemical homogeneity and high optical quality, a transition pipe (3) is provided, according to the invention, between the feed pipe (1) and the transition ramp (2), which widens in the shape of a funnel in the flow direction and can be directly heated by an electric current.
