A color processing system using an RS485 asynchronous serial bus and a solid state pickup camera and a driving control method thereof are provided to promote development of a dedicated camera for color sorting and location control technology by providing control technology of a computer-based sorting device for sorting device development applied with new sorting technology. A color processing system using an RS485 asynchronous serial bus and a solid state pickup camera comprises a CCD(Charge-Coupled Device) camera(2,3), a microcomputer(1) and a computer. The CCD camera photographs material moving through one or more chutes. The microcomputer senses and analyzes information about an image, photographed by the CCD camera, through RS 485 serial communication. The computer is connected to the microcomputer.
