After a predetermined time capable of confirming bad installation of an air conditioner passes, the current temperatures of the indoor pipe and the outdoor pipe are detected(206,209). The detected initial and current temperatures of the indoor pipe and the outdoor pipe are compared with each other(212). If the initial and current temperatures of each pipe are the same, a 'refrigerant leakage' error is displayed(215,218). If the initial and current temperatures of the indoor pipe are the same while the current temperature of the outdoor pipe is higher than the initial temperature, a 'service valve locked' error is displayed(227,230). If the current temperature of the indoor unit is higher than the initial temperature while the initial temperature of the outdoor unit is higher than the current temperature, a 'bad four-way switching' error is displayed(233,236). If the initial temperature of the indoor pipe is higher than the current temperature while the current temperature of the outdoor pipe is higher than the initial temperature, a 'normal state' is displayed(239,242). A control unit monitors an operating time and terminates the test working mode(221,224). 본 발명은 에어컨의 시운전시에 제품의 상태를 검사하여 발생된 에러상태를 표시해줄 수 있는 에어컨의 시운전 제어방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 에어컨의 시운전제어방법은, 시운전모드에서 설치 불량을 검출하기 위한 여러가지 과정을 구비하고, 검출된 설치불량상태를 소비자 또는 설치자에게 제공하는 것을 특징으로 한다. 이러한 설치불량상태를 검출하기 위해서 본 발명에서는, 초기 실내배관온도와 초기 실외배관온도 그리고 소정시간 경과 후의 현재 실내배관온도와 현재 실외배관온도를 검출하고, 두 값의 비교와 대소에 의해서 설치불량상태를 판단한다.
