METHOD AND DEVICE FOR REGISTERING LOCATION OF MOBILE TERMINAL BASED ON VIRTUAL PATH

PURPOSE: A method and a device for registering a location of a mobile terminal based on a virtual path are provided to reduce an unnecessary location registration frequency of a location registration strategy based on an inter-cell movement frequency, so that wireless resources can be efficiently used. And the method and device are provided to have performance similar to a distance-based location registration strategy, even when distance information does not exist. CONSTITUTION: Whether a mobile terminal is set to a location registration mode based on a virtual path(501) is decided. If so, a cell movement deciding unit decides whether the mobile terminal moves to a new cell from near cell information provided from a base station(502). If so, the cell movement deciding unit updates an actual path and generates a VP(Virtual Path)(503). Whether an MC(Movement Counter) is over a set threshold is decided(504). If so, a message transmitting unit transmits a message for location registration to the base station(505). And the MC, the VP and an NL(Near List) are initialized(506).
