Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling the speed of an elevator is provided to improve the speed controlling characteristics of the elevator by using a load detecting device. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling the speed of an elevator comprises an angular speed detecting device(607), a level difference detecting device(613), a level correcting operation command generating device(614), a load detecting device(614), a subtracter(702), a switching device, and an adder(704). The angular speed detecting device(607) detects the rotational angle of an AC motor. The level correcting operation command generating device(614) generates operation commands.
