Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a distress position notification device using a semiconductor element and an optical fiber, and to an operating method thereof. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the distress position notification device determines whether water distress occurs through a moisture sensor to transmit a tracking signal, print the text ′SOS′, determines whether the time of water distress is day or night through a light sensor, blinks the text ′SOS′ when the time of water distress is night, and uses a solar cell to convert solar energy into electrical energy and to use the energy. 본 발명은 반도체 소자와 광섬유를 이용한 조난위치 알림장치 및 그 동작 방법에 관한 것으로서, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 조난위치 알림장치는, 수분센서를 통해 수상조난의 발생여부를 판단하여 추적 신호를 전송하고, SOS라는 문자를 출력할 수 있으며, 조도센서를 통해 수상조난의 시점이 주간인지 야간인지 여부를 판단하여 야간인 경우 SOS라는 문자가 점멸되도록 할 수 있으며, 솔라셀을 이용하여 태양광 에너지를 전기 에너지로 변환하여 사용할 수 있다.
