The method of the present invention can manufacture a preform which is braided in a one end-closed structure by suspending a fiber on a first carrier, connecting a fiber to a second carrier facing the first carrier in a diameter direction of the tracks, disposing the fibers such that the fibers cross each other in the center of the mandrel, operating the crossing cylinders and the rotary cylinder of the first track to perform a braiding operation in the direction from an inner side to an outer side of the tracks such that a braid is knitted in a plurality of plies at an end portion of the mandrel by the plurality of tracks, and enabling the moving means to move the mandrel, thereby knitting the braid covering a side surface of the mandrel.
