HINGE UNIT AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME

A hinge unit and an image forming apparatus with the same are provided to allow a user to smoothly open and close a cover by weak force by differently applying elastic force according to an opening and closing angle of the cover. A lower frame(110) is combined to a scan unit of a body. An upper frame(120) is connected with the lower frame(110) through a hinge shaft(P) and is combined with a cover. The first and the second elastic members(131,132) are installed in the upper frame(120) in serial. The upper frame(120) includes a fixing holder(123), the first movable holder(121), and the second movable holder(122). The fixing holder(123), installed in an end part of one side of the upper frame(120), safely receives the first elastic member(131). The first movable holder(121), installed to be opposite to the fixing holder(123), safely receives the second elastic member(132). The first movable holder(121) is moved along a longitudinal direction of the upper frame(120). The second movable holder(122) is located between the first elastic member(131) and the second elastic member(132) to be moved along the longitudinal direction of the upper frame(120). When the cover is rotated to the scan unit, the second elastic member(132) is displaced after the first elastic member(131) is displaced.
