SURFACE MOUNT TYPE POWER INDUCTOR

A surface mount type power inductor is provided to remove an external core and an air gap, and to maintain inductance even in a high current status by having an external magnetic substance formed as one body with a wound internal core. In a surface mount type power inductor(100), an internal core(110) has one type among an "I"-type, a "T"-type, and a drum-type. The internal core(110) is made of ferrite or metal-magnetic material. A coil(120) is wound by the predetermined number of times around the internal core(110). External electrodes are adhered on both ends of the coil(120). The inductor(100) has no external core. An external magnetic substance(130) is formed through an additional mold by using magnetic powder, a dielectric filler, a binder, and a lubricant to surround the internal core(110) and the coil(120). The magnetic powder is one of steel powder, permalloy powder, amorphous alloy powder, or ferrite powder.
