CONSTITUTION: An operator sets the number of traffic channels capable of being assigned per each sector or FA(S1). A base station judges whether the number of traffic channels requested per each sector or FA exceeds the number of the set traffic channels(S2). If the number of traffic channels requested per each sector or FA exceeds the number of the set traffic channels, the base station estimates a forward transmission power and determines whether calls are more assigned(S3). If the number of traffic channels requested per each sector or FA exceeds the number of the set traffic channels, the base station assigns the traffic channel(S4). The base station checks over whether the estimated forward transmission power is larger than a predetermined call setup rejection threshold value(S5). If the estimated forward transmission power is larger than the predetermined call setup rejection threshold value, the base station decreases digital gains of all forward traffic channels by a gain adjustment threshold value(S6), estimates the forward transmission power again, and compares the estimated forward transmission power with the call setup rejection threshold value(S7). If the forward transmission power is lower than the call setup rejection threshold value or the forward transmission power is lower than the call setup rejection threshold value after decreasing the digital gains, the base station assigns the traffic channel(S8). 본 발명은 개인 휴대 통신 시스템(PCS) 또는 디지털 통신 시스템(DCS)에 있어서, 순방향 송신전력을 이용하여 트래픽 채널을 효율적으로 할당할 수 있도록 한 순방향 송신전력을 이용한 트래픽 채널 할당방법에 관한 것으로, 각 섹터당 또는 FA당 할당될 수 있는 트래픽 채널의 수를 임의의 적정선까지 설정한 후, 요구되는 트래픽 채널의 수가 설정된 트래픽 채널의 수를 초과하는 경우 순방향 송신전력을 추정하여 호 설정 거부 임계치보다 작으면 트래픽 채널을 할당하고, 호 설정 거부 임계치보다 크면 순방향 통화채널의 디지털 이득을 이득 조정 임계치만큼 감소시킨 후 다시 순방향 송신전력을 추정하여 호 설정 거부 임계치와 비교하며, 이때 다시 추정한 순방향 송신전력이 호 설정 거부 임계치보다 작으면 트래픽 채널을 할당하지만 디지털 이득을 감소시켜도 순방향 송신전력이 호 설정 거부 임계치보다 크면 트래픽 채널 할당을 거절함으로써, 트래픽 채널 자원을 효과적으로 사용자가 많은 섹터나 FA에 할당하여 기지국이 가지고 있는 자원을 최대한 활용할 수 있게 되는 효과가 있다.
