CONSTITUTION:At the time of space cooling operation, air sucked through an indoor heat exchanger 11 is cooled and admitted to rooms 1a, 1b, 1c. When the temp. of the room 1a e.g. reduced to a set value or less, a thermostat 6a is OFF and an opening and closing device 5a for a damper closes a damper 4a. The amount of the discharge air of an indoor unit 3a is reduced and the temp. of air passing through the exchanger 11 falls down. Air temp. is detected by a temp. sensor 13 and a controller 14 computes the operation frequency f of a compressor 21 from the speed of change in the detected temp. Ta and a memorized condition and supplies a command for setting the frequency to an inverter circuit 27. The circuit 27 delivers an alternative voltage with the frequency corresponding to the command for setting the frequency. Space cooling capacity is reduced by the decrement of air blasting to the room 1a and cool air with the changeless and most suitable temp. can be supplied to the rooms 1b, 1c. In space heating operation, a similar effect can be obtained.
