Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To improve printing repeatability of a thermal transfer ink ribbon thereby to increase the life of the ribbon by forming a thermally fusible ink layer which contains fine powder of diatomaceous earth on a base made of polymer film to form the ribbon. CONSTITUTION:A thermally fusible ink layer 4 which contains fine powder of lightly burnt ground is laminated through an intermediate adhesive layer 3 made of polyester resin or polyamide resin on a base 2 made of a polymer film to form a thermal transfer ink ribbon. Since diatomaceous earth has strong adsorption, the quantity of ink material to be transferred from the ink layer can be suitably controlled. A printing sheet 6 is disposed on the surface of the ribbon contacted with the layer 4 of the ribbon, pressurized by a platen to transfer the ink to the sheet 6 by the heat of the head 1 of the base 2 side to be printed.
