Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a lubricating oil composition which exhibits excellent lubricity when used as a lubricating oil of a high pressure gas compressor and spoils neither the reactivity of reactants nor the properties of the formed product when used for apparatus in the step of reaction. CONSTITUTION:A lubricating oil for compressor comprising a base oil composed of a hydrocarbon and 0.0001-5wt% sulfonate added thereto. Examples of the hydrocarbon include liq. paraffin, polybutene, and poly-alpha-olefin. They may be used alone or in the form of a mixture thereof. Examples of the sulfonate include group I and II metals of the periodic table or salts of an aliphatic sulfonic acid and an arom. sulfonic acid. Among them, particularly pref. is one prepd. by sulfonating an alkylated arom. hydrocarbon with fuming sulfuric acid or an SO3 gas and reacting the sulfonation product with an oxide or hydroxide of group I and II metals in the absence or presence of a carbon dioxide gas.
