In such a case, after a scanner 11 is moved additionally by four lines(N lines) further from a time when the reading of each area is completed by rotating a scanning motor 18 in a forward direction, the scanner 11 is stopped by rotating the scanning motor 18 in a reverse direction successively and returning the scanner by 16 lines(M lines), and the reading of the next area is started by restarting from the stopping position.
