description PURPOSE:To greatly improve operation performance and an exhaust gas emission characteristic by driving plural fuel injection valves for each cylinder in accordance with the operating condition of an engine. CONSTITUTION:An injection valve to be driven is selected out of first and second fuel injection valves having different flow rate characteristics by an injection valve selecting means in accordance with a required fuel quantity calculated by a required fuel quantity calculating means. And, the pulse width of an injection pulse signal which is outputted to the selected fuel injection valve is set in accordance with the required fuel quantity by a pulse width setting means. Also, an injection timing is set in such a way that an injection signal finishing timing agrees with the defined timing of each cylinder by an injection timing setting means in accordance with the set pulse width. And, an injection pulse signal having the set pulse width is outputted from an injection pulse signal outputting means to the selected fuel injection valve at this set injection timing, to inject and feed a fuel. Accordingly, variation in air fuel ratio at the time of a transient operation can be suppressed as much as possible, thereby, improving operating performance and an exhaust gas emission characteristic.
