At this time, a lever 14 is pressed by means of the bottom plate 12 associated with the lever 2 so that an end detecting switch 15 is not shielded due to an opening in the shield plate 1. Upon paper end, the end detecting switch 15 is shielded by the shield part (a) of a shield plate 1. Thereafter, when the elevating motor 9 is reversed, the lever 2 is pulled out from the upper limit detecting sensor 10 while the shield plate 1 is pushed by a pressing arm 11 so that the end detecting switch 15 is shielded and released. Accordingly, it is possible to control the paper feed mechanism by the combination of the detecting switches.
