description PURPOSE:To excellently maintain an engine operating state by measuring the intake quantity of air with good accuracy, by arranging a temp. compensation resistor in the intake passage of an engine. CONSTITUTION:The intake air quantity measuring resistor arranged in the intake passage of an engine is constituted of a heat wire type flowmeter 15 having a heat wire RH and a temp. compensation resistor RK and outputting the potential difference signal based on the change in the resistance values of said resistors. The intake quantity of air is converted and determined corresponding to the change in the resistance values of the heat wire RH and the resistor RK, in such a state that the temp. of intake air is compensated, by an intake air quantity converting means 46 and, thereafter, a fuel supply means 8 is operated while being controlled by a control means 47 and the supply quantity of fuel becomes the quantity corresponding to the intake quantity of air and an air/fuel ratio of a mixing ratio is always adjusted to a set value to enhance the output or emission capacity of the engine. When the heat wire RH is abnormal, the intake quantity of air is converted 46 on the basis of the potential difference of the resistor RK, detected by a potential difference detection means 42, by the means 46 and determined to detect the intake quantity of air in the same way as the normal time of the heat wire RH with good accuracy and, on the basis of said detected quantity, the means i is operated while being controlled by the means 47 and the supply quantity of fuel well corresponds to the actual air intake quantity.
