description PURPOSE:To obtain both superior monochromatic and color images by laminating an insulating film, an Se.Cl layer, the first Se.Te layer, and the second Se.Tw layer in succession on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:The insulating film 2, the Se.Cl layer 3, the first Se.Te layer 4 and the second Se.Te layer 5 are laminated in succession on the conductive substrate 1. The Te concentration in the first Se.Te layer has a gradient increasing toward the surface layer from 0-6wt% on the side of the Se.Cl layer 3 to 12-20wt% on the side of the second Se-Tw layer 5, and the Te concentration of the second Se.Te layer 5 is almost constant within 4-8wt%. The insulating film 2 acts as a crystallization promotion preventing layer made of polyparaxylylene, polycarbonate, or the like, easy in coatability, high in electric field resistance, and tending to prevent crystallization of the Se layer. The Se.Cl layer 3 acts as an electrostatic charge transfer layer and a charge retentive layer, and Cl is added to Se in an amount of 10-100ppm, thus permitting rise of residual potential due to the formation of the insulating film 2 to be prevented.
