DRY CELL

PURPOSE:To suppress the rise of the pressure within the cell when a gas is generated, by providing a ring-form recess at the lower face of a sealing cap, and filling therein a sealing material consisting of a substance which is soft at normal temperature, to keep the cap, a carbon rod, and a can body airtight. CONSTITUTION:Inside a can body 1, a black mix 2 consisting of manganese and the like is filled, a carbon rod 3 is inserted, the opening is sealed with an outer cap 6 and an inner cap 8, and a dry cell is composed. In this case, while a space 11 is formed at the portion where the carbon rod 3 penetrates the outer cap 6 and the inner cap 8, a ring-form bank 9 is formed at the lower side of the inner cap 8. And, a sealing material 12 such as asphalt which has some flexibility at the normal temperature is filled to attach to the lower side of the inner cap 8, the carbon rod 3, and the inner surface of the can body 1. Therefore, when the inner pressure rises by a gas generation, the gas can be cleared by the squeeze of the sealing material 12 toward the space 11.
