PURPOSE:To enhance the shifting accuracy of the head arm in the diameter direction of the optical disk by providing the brake means to fix the shaft to which a head arm assembling body swinging mechanism is fitted at the time of swinging the head arm assembling body. CONSTITUTION:By operating the operating part of the device, an optical disk handling mechanism part 3 can be operated, a memory media unit 6 provided with plural optical disks 5 starts to rotate at the prescribed speed. On the other hand, after one side reading unit 30 is shifted in the upward and downward directions and stopped at the prescribed position by the information retrieving signal from the control part, a head arm assembling body 31 of the unit 30 is shifted in the radial direction of the disk 5, and a tip head 48 of a head arm 45 starts the reading action. At the time of the swinging of the assembling body 31, a brake means 87 is provided which fixes a shaft 33 to fit a head arm assembling body swinging mechanism, and constituted to receive the reaction at the time of swinging an assembling body 81. Thus, the shifting accuracy of the arm 45 in the diameter direction of the disk 5 can be enhanced.
