FLOWER THINNING AGENT FOR FRUIT TREE

PURPOSE:A flower thinning agent for fruit trees, containing cholesterol as an active constituent, capable of giving effect of flower thinning action by chemical action of the cholesterol on the stigma, and selectively inhibiting fertilization without giving phytotoxicity to plants, nor toxicity to the human body nor causing environmental pollution, etc. CONSTITUTION:A flower thinning agent for fruit trees containing cholesterol as an active constituent and, as necessary, another cholesterol, e.g. vegetable cholesterol. Preferably, the above-mentioned cholesterol is formulated into a form of solution, wettable powder, emulsion or spray, by mixing with a carrier, and particularly applied preferably in the form of an aqueous emulsion or aque ous dispersion. The concentration of the cholesterol is 0.005-1.0wt%, preferably 0.01-0.02wt%. The above-mentioned agent is applied to the fruit trees in the flowering period and can be used for a wide range of fruit trees, e.g. pear, peach, apple, persimmon, cherry, etc. EFFECT:The range of application is wide and the agent can be applied to all the fruit trees, e.g. flowers of cultivated fruit trees, etc., and put to practical use in aspects of price.
