CONSTITUTION:At the moment of stoppage of a carriage at a home position when the recording was finished, a shutter driving solenoid 22 is energized, the shutter 16 is pressed down by a shutter lever 20 and an ink passing hole in a nozzle holder 7 is closed tightly with a flexible non-absorbent material 18. Then afer a predetermined period, the ink is fed to a nozzle 2 by a control signal, the ink is injected through an orifice 3 and absorbed into an absorbent material 12 supported by a cap 13 after passing over an oblique surface 17 of the flexible non-absorbent material 18 and through an ink introducing hole 14. As a result the ink passing hole 11 is kept in a high humidity atmosphere and the plugging of the nozzle 3 is prevented completely.
