description PURPOSE:To enhance the joint strength, fuel holding capacity and stabilization of fuel supply of an automobile fuel tank provided with a tank space for vehicle turn, by welding the bottom of an outer tank to the bottom surface of a tank body through spot-welding holes formed in the bottom surface of an inner tank. CONSTITUTION:The bottom surface section 31b of an inner tank is spot-welded to the outer tank bottom section 30 of a tank for vehicle turn, at points A. The outer tank bottom section 30 is welded to the bottom surface section 21a of a fuel tank body through holes 31f formed in the bottom surface section 31 of the inner tank 31b at points B. With this arrangement, when the vehicle turn so that fuel is inclined to one side, fuel in the tank 22 is also inclined to one side but is held within the inner tank 31. In comparison with conventional tanks having a band-like bottom, the area of the bottom surface section of the inner tank 31b having a cemicircular shape, is wide so that the holding amount of fuel may be increased to stabilize the supply of fuel. Further, the amount of fuel passing through the spot-welding holes 31f may be reduced since the diameter of the holes is small.
