description PURPOSE:To reduce the output deterioration due to the running of a tape by decreasing the width of an auxiliary core of the tape width direction in the direction where the width of the auxiliary core is equal to the tape width at a head gap part. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 10 contains main cores 11a and 11b forming a head gap 14 (width Q equal to 10-30mum) and auxiliary cores 12a and 12b bonded to both sides of cores 11a and 11b respectively. The cores 11a and 11b are made of an amorphous alloy magnetic material, etc.; while the cores 12a and 12b use a magnetic ferrite mateial such as Mn-Zn, Ni-Zn, etc. The tape rubbing surface side of the head 10 is formed convex so that the width Q of cores 11a and 11b (head gap 14) is equal to the width Q of cores 12a and 12b. In addition, the junction parts 13a and 13b between main and auxiliary cores have acute angles. A winding window 17, etc. are formed to the cores 11a and 11b. While the reinforcement glass 16 (lead boric acid glass) is filled into an X- shaped hollow part of the main core.
