description PURPOSE:To aim at enhancing the combustion efficiency of an engine and as well at enhancing the ecconomy of fuel consumption, by reading out a desired discharge time optimum for an engine operating condition from data stored in a memory, and by controlling the drive time of an auxiliary power source such that an actual discharge time becomes the desired discharge time. CONSTITUTION:A control means 38 computes the amount of fuel injection and the timing of fuel injection which are optimum for the operating condition of an engine, and delivers an injection signal to a fuel supply device while delivers an ignition signal and a drive signal to a relaying mechanism 34 and an auxiliary power source 36, respectively. The relaying mechanism 34 induces a high voltage in the secondary widing 33 of an ignition coil 31, and this high voltage is fed to an ignition plug 37 through a distributor 35 to initiate electrical discharge. Further, the auxiliary power source 36 supplies ignition energy to the ignition plug 37 through the coil 31 and the distributor 35 only during the period during which the drive signal is introduced. Further, in oreder to enhance the combustion efficiency of the engine, a discharge time should be sustained optimumly for the operating condition of the engine.
