description PURPOSE:To discriminate a connected additional device precisely by storing a program controlling a body and programs controlling respective additional devices in individual ROMs, and when prescribed code data is not detected in a specific address of an additional device ROM to be worked, deciding that the additional device is not connected to the body. CONSTITUTION:A CPU1 executes a main routine cyclically to work the body of a copying machine and various additional devices in parallel. The CPU1 inputs data in the leading addresses ADD1, ADD2, ADDn of respective ROMs 7-9 and decides whether the contents of the data are specific codes C1, C2, Cn or not. When a specific code is detected, the CPU1 controls the additional device concerned, and at the time of no detection, decides that the additional device concerned is not connected to the body and advances to the succeeding processing without executing the control of the additional device concerned. Thus, the connected additional device can be discriminated by connecting the ROM for the additional device connected to the copying machine body to a corresponding socket and disconnecting the ROM for the disconnected additional device from the corresponding socket to execute the control of the additional device.
