Also, at every once of all scanning lines of one picture, an operation which jumps over the scanning lines of the number depending on (n) of the matrix and encodes the block is repeated by a prescribed number of times, and the whole of one picture is encoded. Also, at the time of encoding of each time, with regard to a sporadical scanning line which becomes an object at its every time, the block of a value different from the immediately previous block on the block train becomes a varied block. Subsequently, an address of the block to be encoded is set to a prescribed value, respectively, a picture of a gradation of a multilevel is encoded with high compressibility, and its code is reproduced successively.
