DISC CHUCK MECHANISM

PURPOSE:To perform all processing steps while holding a disc and avoid damage thereof by a construction wherein a disc chuck mechanism used in manufacture of a magnetic disc is formed of two parts having the substantially identical outer configuration which are engageable with and disengageable from each other. CONSTITUTION:A disc blank D is set on a disc receiver 10, and a disc retainer 20 is inserted and then pushed with a pin 23 at the distal end of a shaft 22 being fitted to a slot 13A in a locking block 13 of the disc receiver 10, so that the disc blank is held between the circumferential parts of the disc receiver 10 and the disc retainer 20. When the shaft 22 is further pushed down, the pin 23 at the distal end thereof and the locking block 13 come into the relationship as shown in the figure (C). When the shaft 22 is now turned by 90 deg. and then returned back by a spring 24, the pin 23 is fitted into a recess 13B of the locking block 13, whereby the disc retainer 20 is locked to the disc receiver 10.
