description PURPOSE:To perform a uniform heat treatment over the entire part of a coil by subjecting a wire rod which is worked under heating in an uncoiled state to the heat treatment in a continuous heat-treating furnace, forming the same into a coil shape and delivering the coil to the outside of the furnace. CONSTITUTION:A wire rod (w) which is worked under heating by a heater and a roll bender is fed continuously in a guide pipe 13 into a furnace 1, where the wire rod is coiled spirally and fed successively downward by a coil former 21. The wire rod (w) emerging from the former 21 is received as it is by the wire rod receiving pawl 34 of a feeder 3 in a heat treating chamber 10. The feeder 3 feeds downward the wire rod (w) by lowering a chain 33 in synchronization with the former 21. The heat treatment of the wire rod (w) is accomplished during this time. The wire rod (w) is then supported by a synchronously rotating coiler 4 to form a coil W. When the wire rod (w) forming the coil W attains a prescribed length, the wire rod (w) is cut by the operation of a cutter 48, and the coil W falls, via a replacing chamber 5, onto the table roller in a discharging chamber 6, from which the coil is discharged to the outside of the furnace.
