description | 1463510 Conductors for dynamo-electric machines FUJIKURA CABLE WORKS Ltd 27 Feb 1974 [5 March 1973] 8988/74 Heading H2A An elongate cross-section conductor comprises a number of rectangular cross-section, insulated conductor bars which are transposed along the conductor length at least in the direction parallel to their short edges and are stacked such that the conductor longer side is substantially parallel to the longer sides of the bars. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, an insulative separator 2 made of thermoplastic resin bonds the conductor bars 1 into position. The bars are themselves insulated by a synthetic resin enamel, organic insulating material or glass fibre. In a modification, (Figs. 4A, 4B, not shown), the separator 2 is notched along the top and bottom edges to facilitate the lateral transposition of the bars without deforming the adhesive tape from which the separator is made. The conductor may be used in either a dynamo-electric machine or in a transformer. |
