BOOT FOR CABLE

PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of a bellows-like boot and an operating cable, by placing the boot between the outer and inner members of the cable at its end, reducing the diameter of the end of the boot on the inner member and providing an oil or grease reservoir in the boot. CONSTITUTION:A cable 1 for operating a brake or the like comprises an inner and an outer members 1a, 1b. A boot 4 is provided at the end of the cable 1 so that the boot extends between the inner and the outer members 1a, 1b. The boot 4 is shaped as a bellows between both the ends 4a, 4b. The end 4b on the inner cable member 1a is formed at a small diameter. The constructed section of the small-diameter part 4c is placed in contact with the inner cable member 1a. An opening 5 for filling grease or the like is provided inside the large-diameter part 4d of the boot 4. The part 4d with the end 4a on the outer cable member 1b has not only a large diameter but also a large pitch in the bellows expansion and functions as an expansible and contractible part.
