description PURPOSE:To sort hemocytes with high accuracy and high efficiency, by isolating and flowing the hemocytes in the diluted blood one by one, measuring the light absorbing degree and the light diffusing degree of the hemocytes and detecting and storing a color video signal at the downstream, if necessary. CONSTITUTION:The diluted hemocytes dyed with a dyeing agent are injected 10, and each hemocyte 16 is isolated through a nozzle 12 of a sheath flow to be flowed inside a tube 14. The light of a light source 22 is condensed 24 and irradiates the hemocyte 16. Then both the transmitted light and diffused light are obtained for R, G and B respectively through a light absorbing degree detector 26 and a light diffusion detector 28 and then fed to an analyzing/selecting circuit 30 to complete a sorting process at that time point. If the sorting is impossible, a timing circuit 46 closes a switch 44 to reflect 36 the light of the source 34 when the hemocyte 16 reaches the 2nd device 32. The three line sensors 38 for R, G and B deliver the video signals. These video signals receive an A/D conversion via the switch 44 and then stored 40 to be displayed to a CRT48 for analysis. In such a way, the hemocytes can be sorted with high accuracy and high efficiency.
