DOT PRINTER

PURPOSE:To enhance the quality of printed characters, by a method wherein a signal of a period of time shorter than the period of time required for a dot pin to press a printing paper under the function of a command for printing is impressed on a driving means, and the dot pin is reset immediately before pressing the paper; CONSTITUTION:When a printing head 16 is stopped at an initial position 25 for printing and is ready to start printing, a printing place signal is not fed to a character generator 8, and an output from the generator 8 is controlled to be in a high impednace condition. However, a signal indicating the presence of printing data is fed to the input of a dot printer driver 9 by an output pull-up resistor 19, a CPU1 calculates a period of time equal to about 1/3 of the normal printing timing, and the dot pin is driven by a pre-printing signal from the CPU1 through the driver 9. Accordingly, the dot pin is reset without pressing the paper 21 before reaching the paper 21, and even when particles of ink or paper are adhered to a dot pin guide, these obstacles are removed and the quality of printed characters is enhanced.
