description PURPOSE:To detect flaws in the curved surfaces of a ridge part easily and accurately by moving a probe profiling the curved surface of the ridge part with a parallel link mechanism supporting thereof connected to an endless belt containing a similar part thereto in the surrounding area thereof. CONSTITUTION:A reciprocating motion is performed with the rotation of a motor 23. A rack 17 mounted on a drive block 18 also reciprocates and pinions 15 and 16 repeats a forward and reverse roration synchronizing the reciprocation thereof. Synchronizing this motion, chains 10 and 14 runs around repeatedly. With the motion of the chain 10, arms 4 and 5 rotates in reciprocation around sprockets 7 and 11 and transmitted to a holder 3 and a supporting cylinder 6 through rods 1 and 2, the reciprocative rotation causes them to turn similarly. As the sprockets 7-13 are arranged to match the curved surface of the ridge of an angular billet E and any shape in the proximity thereof, the arms 4 and 5 and the supporting cylinder 6 moves along the curved curface of the ridge of the angular billet E and the proximity thereof to ensure that a probe PB at the lower end of the supporting cylinder 6 detects flaws accurately.
