A gasket 6 made of a molded member of a synthetic resin is attached around the outer circumference of the cathode can 2. After a positive electrode 3 made of a mixture containing both manganese dioxide and a conductive auxiliary agent is placed on the bottom of an anode can 1, a separator 4 prepared from a non-woven fabric of polypropylene fiber is placed on the positive electrode 3. Next, the cathode can 2 which holds the negative electrode 5 and the gasket 6, is attached to the opening of an anode can 1. After that, the opening of an anode can 1 is inwardly curled so as to clamp the battery, thereby completing assembly of a lithium battery. In using the battery, a lead member 12 is protruded outside the outer diameter of the battery by folding back the free end side of a cut part 11 on the terminal end part of the cut part 11.
