description | PURPOSE:To provide an ignition system of a Diesel engine which can generate ensured ignition without requiring the precision with which the ignition timing is set, and by catching the fuel spray through long duration of electnic discharge corresponding to the variation of an injection timing. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection valve contains a piezo-electric element and by compressing the piezo-electric element by the reaction force of an injection spring which is produced at the fuel injection timing, an inter-electrodes break- down voltage of an ignition plug, is generated, and at the same time a coil is provided in series to the ignition plug at the output side of a dc booster circuit and after a spark discharge is induced at the ignition plug by the break-down voltage which is generated at the piezo-electric element, a charge energy which is stored in a capacitor at the output side of the dc booster circuit is supplied via said coil to the ignition plug. The discharge is maintained longer than the duration until the fuel spray reaches the gap between the electrodes of the ignition plug, hence eliminating the need of an ignition spark advance controller. |
