Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To simplify a drive unit for a vehicle by engaging the output of a transmission with an input shaft of a final reduction gear disposed coaxially with the output shaft of a differential unit provided in parallel with each other via a chain. CONSTITUTION:The output shaft 24 of a transmission 10 for transmitting the power from an engine 1 through a crankshaft 2 and a converter 3 to a final reduction gear is coupled with the input shaft 35 of the final reduction gear 30 provided in parallel with the output shaft 24 via a chain provided between sprockets 27 and 36 so that the final reduction is performed via a differential unit 40 and the gear 30 disposed coaxially with the differential unit 40, thereby obtaining a drive unit for a vehicle with compact structure and good assembling property without necessity of increasing the rigidity of the chain.
