description | PURPOSE:To facilitate operation and maintenance and cast good quality products continuously and economically by peforming casting while stirring the molten steel in a mold by the stirring thrust of rotators immersed in the molten steel in the mold. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel 4 teemed into a water-cooled mold 3 via a tundish nozzle 2 is solidified gradually from the part in contact with the inside surface of the mold 3 to a slab ingot 5 which is drawing downward. In this case, water cooling type metal made rotators 6 immersed in the molten steel 4 in the mold 3 are rotated at prescribed number of revolutions and in a prescribed revolving direction by motors 8 and speed changers 9 driven by the signal from a control panel 7. By this stirring, the casting structure and the cleanliness in the front layer part of the ingot can be inproved. The rotators 6 are made into water-cooled jacket construction, and are cooled by the cooling water circulated through cooling water pipes 11. To prevent the temp. from rising above prescribed temp., the temp. of discharge water is detected with thermocouples and is monitored with the panel 7. |
