description PURPOSE:To save the usage of fresh water, and to reduce the initial cost of a cooler by cooling a shaft part by sea water, cooling bosh and hearth parts by a separate cooling system using fresh water and recycling the fresh water, in cooling a blast furnace body. CONSTITUTION:Cooling plates 4 installed in the interior refractory bricks 3 in the shaft part A of a blast furnace 1 are cooled by the sea water supplied through a sea water pump 22, a feed water pipe 9 and a header 8. The cooling of the bosh part B and the hearth part C is accomplished by spraying the fresh water supplied from a feed water pipe 12 by a spray header 13, and this cooling water 14 is collected via a bottom pit 17 in a water storage pit 18, from which it is circulated and reutilized by a pump 21 by being replenished with the fresh water having cooled intertuyere cooling plates 15a as makeup water at 10-20% the rate of water spray. Since the cooling of the water for cooling the fresh water is accomplished by the dissipation of heat into the air by water spray, the need for equipment such as heat exchanger and the like is eliminated and the initial cost is required to be low.
