description PURPOSE:To perform titled blowing out quickly without damaging infurnace linings by stopping blasting after primary stock reduction and discharging the residual molten slag in a molten metal well through a temporary tap hole, then, melting and discharging the residual charging material under tuyeres. CONSTITUTION:While the charging of raw materials into a blast furnace is stopped, the blasting through a tuyere 5 is continued and the primary stock reduction of discharging the charging materials in the furnace while melting these successively and lowering the level of the charging materials down to the tuyere level is accomplished. At this time, the blasting through the tuyeres 5, 5' is stopped, thence temporary tap holes 4, 4' penetrating through a molten well part 7 in the furnace bottom are pierced and salamander 8 left in the part 7 is discharged to the outside of the furnace. Then, the secondary stock reduction of introducing wind into the furnace 1 through the existing tap holes 3, 3', and melting the residual charging materials 2 consisting chiefly of coke left under the tuyere 5 is accomplished to lower the level of the materials 2 down to the level of the holes 3, 3', whereby the part under the tuyeres is emptied.
