description | PURPOSE:To lower the viscosity of a cellulose acetate solution and thereby to make it possible to extrude the solution into moldings with smooth surfaces at high speed, by adding an alkali metal organic sulfonate to an organic solvent solution of cellulose acetate. CONSTITUTION:In a process for producing a molding by using an organic solvent solution of cellulose acetate having combined acetic acid content >=48.8 (e.g., a solution, cellulose triacetate concentration =15wt%, prepared by dissolving cellulose triacetate, combined acetic acid content =60.5, polymerization degree =350, in a methylene chloride/alcohol mixed solvent), at least about 0.1wt% based on cellulose acetate, compound of the formula, wherein R is a 6-25C alkyl, alkenyl, alkylcyclohexyl, alkylphenol or aralkyl and M is Na or K, is added to the organic solvent solution. Addition of the inexpensive additive makes it possible to lower viscosity of a cellulose acetate solution and to extrude the solution into moldings with smooth surfaces at high speed. Further, bubbles contained in the cellulose acetate solution can be removed within a shot time and filtration is facilitated. Small-sized communication pipes and pumps can be used, so that the equipment cost is low. |
