SOLAR BATTERY

PURPOSE:To enable the simple connection of a protection diode in series with a solar battery cell in the step of connecting the same by forming the diode having the cell and a substrate on the back surface of the cell. CONSTITUTION:After an N type layer 12 is formed on the overall surface of a P type Si substrate 11, the N type layer 12' on the back surface is retained, and this is used as a protection diode. Thus, diodes 23, 24 remains on solar battery cells 21, 22. An Si 11 is exposed on the back surface of the element except the diode, and electrodes 25, 26 are formed mostly of the Si 11. The electrodes 25, 26 are one electrode of the elements 21, 22 and operate as the electrodes for the P type layers of the diodes 23, 24. In this solar battery, the electrode 26 and the surface electrode of the element adjacent to the element are connected via a lead 29 in series with the element. On the other hand, in the diode, the P type Si of the element adjacent to the layer 12' is connected to a lead 30, and similar connection is sequentially performed.
