Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to obtain an electrode of simple constitution for shortening the attenuation time of meta-stable gas ions by forming a metallic strip, forming a surface layer of a carbon-contg. material on the metallic strip and forming the electrode consisting of a metallic core and the coating of the carbon-contg. material. SOLUTION: The cathode 26 of a PALC display panel is adhered to the surface of a channel member 4 within a channel 20 of the channel member 4 and has a metallic base part (which is the metallic strip and is also the core) 50 provided with a coating (which is also the surface layer of carbon contg. material) contg. carbon. The surface layer 52 of the carbon-contg. material is formed on the metallic strip 50, by which the electrode of the simple constitution consisting of the metallic core 50 and the coating 52 of the carbon-contg. material may be easily formed. The carbon molecules which are ionized alone are introduced into the gaseous medium within the channel 20 and the attenuation time of the meta-stable helium ions may be efficiency shortened. |
